Veggie Paté Sandwiches
If you haven’t discovered ready-made vegan paté yet, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. It makes a quick and easy sandwich filling and you can add to the loveliness with salad leaves, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, avocado, grated carrot or anything else that you fancy.
There are a couple of major brands – Granovita, Tartex or VBites – and they come in several flavours. They are sold in tubes or resealable containers, available from health food shops (including Holland & Barrett) or online, eg Goodness Direct, Realfoods, Amazon etc. Some branches of Asda sell Granovita’s mushroom paté. Alternatively, you can make this mushroom paté recipe very easily at home!
Other brands of veggie pates tend to have lots of dairy added (eg Sainsbury’s, Waitrose etc) , so check labels!

- Bread, wraps, bagels or pumpernickel – whatever you like. Use a GF version if appropriate
- 1 tube or tin of paté, flavour of your choice
- Vegan mayo or mustard if you wish
Salad veg of your choice (great way to up your 5-10 per day!) eg some (or all…) of these
- Avocado, mashed or sliced
- Alfalfa sprouts
- Salad leaves
- Rocket
- Tomato
- Cucumber
