Ingredients

  • 250ml homemade almond milk OR any other plant-based milk of your choice (homemade or bought)
  • 1 x tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 1-2 medjool dates (or 1tsp of maple, agave, yacon or date syrup)
  • ¼ vanilla pod (or drop of vanilla essence/extract/paste)

Instructions

  1. Follow our homemade almond milk recipe OR use shop bought plant-based milk of your choice.
  2. Remove stone from the medjool date.
  3. Slice the vanilla pod lengthways and then scrape the seeds out using a knife.
  4. Place all ingredients together in the blender and blend for 30 seconds.
  5. Check that everything has been blended to a smooth liquid.
  6. If using home-made milk, strain through a nut milk bag or muslin over a large jug and then transfer into a glass. Otherwise drink it as it is (or warm it up).
  7. If you wanted to heat it up: pour into small saucepan and heat gently on hob on low-med heat for a few minutes.
  8. Decoration (optional): sprinkle pinch of raw cacoa powder or cacao nibs and top with an edible flower (if you’re feeling really pretty).

Did you know that the Vegan Recipe Club is run by Viva!, and that we are a charity?

We create vital resources to help educate everyone – vegan veterans, novices and the v-curious alike – about vegan food, health and nutrition; as well as the plight of farmed animals and the devastating environmental impact of farming.

Through this work we have helped thousands of people discover veganism; but we want to reach millions more! We rely entirely on donations as we don’t get any government funding. If you already support us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, you are really making a difference! Please share our details with your friends and loved ones too, as every donation enables us to keep fighting for change.
