Vegan Street Food Vendor to Enter The British Street Food Award Finals!

Cosmo's Mexicana Street Food Finals

Welsh Street Food Award winners, Cosmo’s Mexicana, are off to the final of the British Street Food Awards in London this weekend!

Cosmo’s Mexicana are competing in the Grand Final of The British Street Food Awards from the 18th to the 20th of August at Hackney Bridge, London. They’ll be competing against 15 other street food traders for the title of British Champions and a place in the final of the European Street Food Awards.

Cosmo’s Mexicana hosts a fully vegan Mexican street food truck that travels across Wales and can be hired for events across England. The couple got into street food in 2021, following the COVID-enforced closure of their Brecon Beacons gastro cafe: ‘After scouring the country for a unique vehicle we came across an ad for Doris, a one-of-a-kind 1953 Fisher Holivan, living life as a spare bedroom at an Airstream glamping site on the Isle of Wight. We instantly fell in love, booked a ferry and within 24 hrs she was home on our drive, ready to start her next chapter as our little taco truck. We did every bit of the conversion ourselves, so she’s very special to us and, as far as we know, the only of her kind in the world!’

The vegan couple decided that combining their love of Mexican street food with their passion for plant-based living was a no-brainer. In a whirlwind two years Cosmo’s Mexicana has gone from slinging burritos and tacos at local pop-ups to cooking for Alison and Dermot live on ITV’s This Morning to being crowned Champions at the 2023 Welsh Street Food Awards, beating a field of meat traders in the process!

Cosmo’s Mexicana’s aim is simply to produce great street food, for example in the form of their signature Burrito Favorito featuring Cayenne-Roasted Sweet Potato, Chipotle Crema, Charred Peppers & Onions, Lemon Rice, Smoked Cheese, Mixed Chilli Bean, Pico de Gallo, and a Soft Flour Tortilla.
The public vote opens this Friday, 18th August and your support is highly appreciated by Cosmo’s Mexicana!
Tickets are £8 in advance (including a free drink and music) and are available here.
