Sustainable Vegan Street Food Chips Hit UK Snack Shelves
Specialist plantain chip producer Purely to hit UK shelves at Co-Op, Ocado, Holland & Barrett, Amazon and WHSmith.
A healthier alternative to potato crisps, Purely’s plaintain version contains 30% less fat without a compromise on taste. They’re on a mission to provide the world with a tasty, plant-based snack that looks after your health as well as the planet.
Sustainability at the heart of their operation
To achieve their goal, Purely’s chips are made of sustainably sourced plantain, grown and produced by small plantation farmers in Ecuador. Not only does this make the chips deliciously authentic, but it also means the production supports both the local community and its economy. Maintaining these Ecuadorian roots, thick-cut plantain slices are then kettle-cooked in the country’s traditional manner, using sunflower oil (not palm oil) and local expertise to ensure Purely’s are the most authentic plantain chips available.
Ecuadorian street food in a bag
In Ecuador, as well as elsewhere across the Americas, Africa, and South-East Asia, plantain chips are a long-established and very popular street food snack. Wherever you go on the streets of Ecuador, you’re sure to find this delicious treat readily available. By working alongside those with such a rich history with plantain and its culinary capabilities, Purely is able to offer a truly delectable taste of the Americas.
Proud of its Ecuadorian ties and sustainable farming practices, Purely was founded in 2018 by Stefania Pellegrino and Mark O’Sullivan. Purely champions Clean Deck World Cuisine, including its ‘No Synthetic \ Nasties OR Palm Oil’ pledge, and which is reflected in its naturally tasty products and palm oil alternatives.
All for a good cause
Their dedication to making the world a better place doesn’t stop at the ingredients list – Purely has also partnered with Ecuadorian orphanage Casa Hagar de Belen in Portoviejo, which provides a safe space for children who have experienced extreme trauma. So remember, every time you buy a packet of Purely Plantain Chips, you will be supporting this fantastic cause!
