One Planet Pizza Secures UK-wide Listing With 400 ASDA Sites
One Planet Pizza, the UK’s first vegan pizza brand, is ramping up production as it launches into 400 Asda stores with their best-seller ‘The Spicy Peppernomi’ [RRP £3.75 / available in store and online from 5th January].
This nationwide launch follows a successful trial in Asda’s first ever incubator programme which ran through 2022 in limited stores. The best performing pizza will now launch into the frozen plant-based space directly competing with global brands like Chicago Town and Goodfellas.
One Planet Pizza has experienced continued success with Asda despite the recent global challenges and crises facing both brands and consumers. With Asda continuing to focus on offering more sustainable brands, One Planet Pizza seem to be resonating with more eco-conscious shoppers.
Pizza remains the best-seller in the supermarket frozen aisle as it’s increasingly perceived as healthier, convenient, and more affordable. Frozen has attracted over 400,000 more shoppers since 2020, with a value growth of +13.5% from 2019. The global frozen food market is predicted to grow at a rate of +11% by 2024.
In 2022, One Planet Pizza became the first pizza brand in the UK to introduce carbon labelling on their packaging as part of their mission to become the most sustainable pizza brand on the Planet. Next they look to achieve B Corp status by the end of the 2024.
Co-Founder of One Planet Pizza, Mike Hill, says: “post-pandemic, consumers are now pushing brands further and demanding products that are both healthier and more sustainable, without compromising on taste and price. That’s the kind of challenge we like at OPP, and we think our pizzas deliver on all of these! It looks like Asda believe this too and we can’t wait for their customers to try the future of pizza right across the UK.”
