Egg shortage? The Perfect Time To Switch To OGGS®!

OGGS egg alternative - News Banner

We have a nation-wide egg crisis as bird flu affects millions of egg-laying hens. What better time to switch to vegan egg alternatives? Like London-based OGGS®, who provide convenient and delicious chickpea-based egg replacements!

Plant-based alternatives for everyday foods

OGGS® have been on the forefront of supplying cruelty-free egg alternatives, such as OGGS Aquafaba® (chickpea brine: a plant-based stable for replacing egg-whites) and their award-winning Scrambled OGGS® (a plant-based egg alternative made from chickpea protein).

They are on a mission to remove the dependence on eggs from our food system, without compromising on quality or flavour, and aim to positively change the future of the planet, animals and people with every bite. And they’re doing a fantastic job! In fact, since their founding date in 2019, OGGS® helped to save over 4.5 million eggs and over 300k kilogram CO2e.

Cakes and Bites

In addition, OGGS® offer an extensive range of vegan baked goods, of course ready prepared with their signature egg-replacements. Consumers can choose from plant-based cakes such as Chocolate Fudge Cupcakes, classic Victoria Sponge Cakes, Vanilla Cupcakes, and a brand-new selection of bites that come in Chocolate Brownie and Millionaire flavours.

OGGS French Toast

Breakfast idea: OGGS® French Toast

Prep Time: 5 mins // Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 110ml Scrambled OGGS®
  • 100ml sweetened plant milk
  • 2 thick slices of bread
  • Margarine for frying
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Berries
  • Maple syrup

Method:

  1. In a large bowl, add the Scrambled OGGS®, plant-based milk, vanilla extract and ground cinnamon then mix together until combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into a flat dish (with edges so that it doesn’t go everywhere!) and place the two slices of bread in the mixture. Flip over so both sides get a good coating.
  3. Heat a griddle pan (or a non-stick frying pan) over a medium heat and then add some margarine to the pan until it melts.
  4. Fry for 4-5 mins on each side until golden brown.
  5. Serve up hot with maple syrup and berries!
