French Toast made using The Vegg
There are several ways to make vegan French Toast, including our existing tasty French Toast recipe, which uses blended tofu.
This alternative uses a unique product called The Vegg. It is based on nutritional yeast flakes, with other added ingredients and forms a substance very similar to an egg yolk when you add water to it.

This recipe, using The Vegg, produces a more traditional 'egg' tasting French Toast.
2 tsp Vegg flakes/powder
1/2 cup water
100ml/3 1/2 fl oz soya milk
2 tbsp vegetable/sunflower oil
2 slices of bread
Salt & pepper
1. Blend the Vegg flakes/powder together with the water in a small food processor until smooth. One that fits on the bottom of a stick blender is perfect. Pour this into a small jug and mix in the soya milk and salt & pepper to taste.
2. Pour the mixture into a rectangular oven dish, big enough to lay both pieces of bread in, so they soak it up. Turn the bread over so both sides become covered with the mix.
3. Fry each piece of bread in 1 tsbp of oil on a medium heat for around 6 mins, turning several times, so both sides are golden brown and crispy. Press the slices down with a spatula to squeeze out any excess liquid and ensure they are cooked all the way through. Cook the slices one at a time if your pan isn't big enough. Cover with a lid if they split at the beginning. Serve with brown or tomato sauce and seasoning.
